Subject: When you grow alternative crops you end up in odd places

Southeast WI
We've been growing squash and pumpkins for many years. It's been a good venture, has put lots of money away for the daughters college, my wife has been able to stay home and farm with me as well as run a crop consulting business.

And the best part of alternative crops? It's the people we work with from our stores we deliver to, a great wholesaler in Milwaukee that sells to higher end users and of course the odd places we get into! This is one of the more unique - Lake Geneva Zip lines and Adventures about 30 miles south of us. They do a couple weekends of pumpkin drops onto a target on the final zip line. They said you really have to chuck it hard to hit the target when you're moving 30 mph. Earlier this week we delivered about 1200 pie pumpkins of various colors (well the white ones are not really pie varieties) - here's a few pics of the folks that helped us unload. Great group of energetic, fun young people to work with. We shall go down there this winter and try out their zip lines. It looks like a lot of fun!
