western iowa | I bought a new to me 550 steiger this summer. 2400 hours. When we brought it in the shop to get it ready for the field I noticed an oil leak coming from the exhaust manifold. Took it to my local shop. 2 of the bolts were broke on the manifold, allowing oil to leak past the gasket. It sounds like they're going to get it fixed ok. The manifold had to be send off to be machined back into proper shape. When it returns they'll have it back together. They say they've seen this on a few other tractors.
Has anyone on here seen this? Did the fix hold up? Am I going to have more trouble with this thing? I did a lot of internet reading about these before I bought it and never ran across this problem being discussed.
If anyone has experience with this I'd appreciate your input. | |
