Subject: 7.3 diesel Ford Powerstroke

Having fuel issues loses power when needing more fuel. Runs well on level road about 60 mph but when throttle up turning higher rpm to gain speed or pulling hill starts losing power missing. When it tops hill will gradually pick back up runs rough but will smooth out by just accelerating lightly. Then when more fuel is needed will repeat the same process. Also seems the longer it's run hotter it gets makes it worse. Then when it pulls hill barely will go and almost shut down runs rough. Then stop let it idle for few minutes if it doesn't smooth out shut engine down for few minutes crank back up and will usually run smooth but after truck gets moving and needs more fuel quick to increase speed or to pull hill engine will start the same process again.

Have changed fuel filter , added fuel treatment for contaminants in fuel, cleaner for injectors etc.

Any suggestions what to check do next?

Edit Note: This particular truck is a 1999 model with electric fuel pump on frame rail the older models had mechanical fuel pump. Other posters have addressed this in their reply post. Good replys on this post about the fuel problem I'm experiencing keep replying and please make note which year model truck your experience is with. Like to learn about both type fuel system before 1999 and after. Looking forward to more replys. Thanks NAT friends for your feedback on this post.
