Subject: Drought Stressing vs. Watering Soybeans

I’ve been told that soybeans are a plant that do better if not irrigated in the early stages. I know that they need good sub moisture to sprout and emerge but then not to water them. The part im confused about is why everyone in the mid west does so well growing soybeans with lots of moisture but I’m being told don’t waste them in the early stages. Can anyone explain to me the pro’s and con’s to watering soybeans and when or when not to be watering them?
