The thought that the freeze thaw cycle takes out compaction is largely a myth in this part of the world. Up here we freeze and stay froze. Dry weather will do much more eventually to alleviate compaction. In other areas where the soil can freeze and thaw several times a winter may be a different story.

We recently had a stint of about 11 days where it did not get above 0. Other than that pretty mild but still lots of temps below freezing. I don't know how much insect pressure gets terminated with the freezing but I'd guess we got the job done this winter.
