| Make sure it's formatted to FAT or FAT32. If you run a Mac computer, it may be inclined to format to HFS+ or a Linux machine to EXT4. Windows may even try to format to NTFS.
Next thing I've learned is always buy USB drives from a name you at least recognize and has been around a while. Some unheard of names from eBay or Amazon typically don't last long.
