Subject: RE: Case IH PCM and “connectivity included”

Technically, yes you should be able to see your coverage logging in field ops if you have the PCM. Is FieldOps far enough along in the development stages that they have this working..... I'm not sure. They keep adding new features throughout the year. I'm guessing they have this working. But, I don't have any machines running in the same field. So, I can't verify this.

"Connectivity included" basically means you get cellular service throughout the life of the PCM or machine. Otherwise, you'd need a cellular plan to send data to the cloud. There should NOT be an additional cost to getting your coverage mapping pushed into FieldOps. We are using the coverage logging and we never had to pay anything additional.

What you need to make it all work is pretty basic. You'll need the PCM, two wires to the display to "push" your agronomic data to the cloud. You'll also need the cellular receiver wires back to the PCM. Then, you'll have 2x J1939 connectors for the PCM that run to your CANBUS connectors in your cab. These connectors stream all of the machine information to the cloud. Also, you'll need to make sure you have a way to get 12v power to the PCM to run it.

Also, you won't be able to move the PCM from machine to machine, unless you work through your dealer. I looked through FieldOps and I couldn't find anywhere in there where you could change the PCM information to match the machine. Plus, when you purchase the PCM the dealer comes out and has to flash the firmware on the PCM. So, I'm guessing they machine lock it somehow. Because, it "has" to be connected to the machine to finish the job.

Picture included is an example of data pulled off of the CANBUS from the machine for fuel burn.
