Im not sure the exact sequence of events that took place but the end result wasn't good

Older Wilson low non ag hopper drug the rear hopper entering or exiting a driveway onto pavement. It has sprung both side rails that the trap door slides on. Its not completely ruined, matter of fact its still functional, just needs fixed.

This is a 1988 commodity hopper. More like a land barge. Its in great shape, both ends have been rebuilt in the last 5 years and im not interested in another trailer that will cost a lot and probably need both ends fixed anyway.

My thoughts are that if there was ever a good time to raise the hopper clearance, now is the time. This one is a little tight with 10" auger.

So has anyone ever successfully changed a low hopper trailer to a not quite ag hopper trailer. Im actually not sure what phrase to type into Google to even research the subject. Just looking for ideas or experiences. Thanks

We've got one. Believe its a 1980 Wilson 41x96x66 spring ride. I think Johnson Trailer sales in Bismarck did it many many years ago before we bought it from a private seller. Think we've owned it about 20yrs now. I'd have to measure the doors and the height. But they basically cut the bottom of the hopper off and made a new door as well as put side chutes in. The side chutes did take some strength away, but it functions. Think we used the side chutes 1 time. Better be a pretty stout person to crank it open full of soybeans, even with the 2spd traps. I'm usually just about in a sweat by the time I'm done unloading at the elevator.

On our 1070 Farm King, you have to line up just about perfect for the door opening to fit the hopper. Much nicer to unload into our 1391 Wheatheart with the longer swing hopper. Trailer has since kind of become a backup/3rd trailer but it still works. I would definitely recommend not going as high as ours to avoid such a big door. I would think only going up 3" would probably be ok for you.

I'll see if I can get some photos, measurements of it in the next few days.
