I would assume this will be the unpopular approach to this topic. But the convenience of Fastenal has to have some value. Person comes out re stocks what is low in the bolt bin checks all the shop supplies. Never have to spend my time worrying about it or running to town. If there is something specific I want I send a picture via text it shows up. Tool warranty is all covered they pick up what’s broken replace with new. I don’t mind paying a bit more if it means I can focus more on what I see as more important. To the OP I wouldn’t nickel and dime the bolt bin…
Convenience is great depending on how much product you are buying. The last time I used Fastenal I ran out of cement lags and I had to keep my guys going and my normal supplier was 1 hour away so into Fastenal I go. Even if I bought 2000 lags they were still 3 times more expensive. I bought a box from Fastenal but had my regular supplier deliver an order the next day. My point is if you buy a few hundred dollars a year go with the convenience but a few thousand dollars at 2-3 times the money I can do a little organization for. | |
