NE Indiana | I won’t pretend I have a lot of knowledge on the issue, but am familiar with it. The SSPX has been doing their own thing for a long time. There was a split back in the 70’s I think and they just do whatever they want to. I’m guessing if any organized religion had a group that just did whatever they wanted, that church’s leadership would offer them correction as well.
