Wife used to be a bank teller a few years back. Her/our opinion of the most likely scenario?

Everything is being recorded at the bank. Our bank (and likely yours) even has little marks at the entry door that look like decorations, but are actually there so that when you enter/leave the security cameras will catch how tall you are based on which of those little 'decorations' match your height. If there is ever an issue with your account, they have, on video, you walking up to the counter, requesting money, and giving your full legal name. More likely than not it is a bank security policy that has been handed down as a requirement for all tellers in all transactions meeting a certain criteria (like a transaction above a certain dollar limit).
It's not just banks, everything is getting that way. I worked security for concerts in the past, and it became policy to require EVERYONE to show a photo ID before they could buy alcohol. Didn't matter if they had gray hair, walked bent over, and wore a hat that said 'Survivor, USS Arizona' on it, you had to ask for a photo ID.
