central mich | There was a true repo lot in GR at one time and they had virtually all trucks and cars. I knew Chip at Neal's real well and years ago he told me about a 1988 FLD120 Freightliner Michigan Special with a 4 axle lead for sale at the lot for $6500. It may have been 6-7 years old. So I went and looked at it and it had been gently laid over on its side. The drivers side mirror had damaged the roof and the trailer frame was sprung. I bought it for no more than $6000 with excellent tires and 300,000 miles. The tractor was not hurt at all except for the roof damage in the alum cab. The trailer box was very sturdy steel and it was not hurt excepy for tarp. I took the frame to Taber and Ottenweiss and one pull and the frame was straight. Cost me $150 for the pull. I still run the Freightliner to Bay City beet sugar lime after I converted to a 3axle lead for trains. Tractor still does not have 400,000 miles on the 3406B. But I think that repo lot is still in GR.
I did thank Chip VanSluis and said I owned him a favor. A bit of history from the old days.
