Middlesex County, Ontario | I have this Unverferth NutriMax side dress bar that I bought new last spring.
I can’t keep the knives from moving. The knives want to end up with their tips in the coulter.
Last year (the first year) I noticed that the mounting surface isn’t flat, it’s bowed out from welding. Hard to keep anything tight against a bowed surface. I stuck a washer on each bolt between the mounting surface and shim to try to allow for that.
This year I’m having the same problem, though I think less often.
We’ve tried tightening the bolts to the point they break but it doesn’t make a difference.
You’d think the knives want to move in the opposite direction direction? There’s a backing bolt for that direction.
Making sure to only drop the tool while moving.
Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do? I’m mildly convinced that the bow in the mounting plate is the cause. I guess I could pull off all the brackets and have them face milled flat? That seems excessive.
