NE Indiana | This is true. We have 2 24' bins with fans to big on them. We need to exit the dryer at 15.2-15.3 dumping at 115-120 degrees in order for the corn to be 15 when cool. With a properly sized fan we could be dumping that corn out of the dryer at 16 and it would be 15 when cool. However, I much prefer the way we do it. Never once have we had a warm spot or bad spot of corn in those bins in the 12 years we have had them. We also have a 48' bin with a perfectly sized fan according to the bin dealer. That one we can dump corn at 16 and it will be 15 when cool but we would end up with bad spots and bridges built up in the center. Now we cool with the bottom of the dryer and dump it cool at 15 out of the dryer going to the bin. Slower going but I'll take grain quality over dryer speed any day. | |
