HPPD inhibitors Group 27's Mesotrione, Laudis, Armezon are the big 3 the latter 2 have grass burndown
Group 15's Dual, zidua, warrant, outlook, define
Auxins group 4's Dicamba and Stinger. Dicamba for burndown and stinger has decent control on Thistles, Dandelions and LSB.
These big 4 make up most of the residual and burndown products. There is a few specialties like sharpen like in verdict and surtain that make rotation on certain veggie crops Group 14 PPO's. Also ALS group 2 herbicides for grass control. Varro and accent are 2 big ones there
Soybeans are a completely different animal.
Valor, Authority, and Metribuzen must be sprayed pre otherwise it will kill beans.
Valor and authority are group 14 PPO's that have outstanding control on Small seeded broadleaves like waterhemp and have a good window of control. Can be hard on beans when they emerge depending on weather. Flexstar is a PPO that can be sprayed pre or post and also has good control on a few large seeded broadleaves.
Most soybean programs consist of at least 1 PPO, A yellow like prowl or Trifulilin if in worked ground, Or in replacement to a yellow a Group 15 as mentioned above for grass control and SSB.
Metribuzin is also good on waterhemp and some odds and ends but has some restrictions on low OM ground and sand.
ALS herbicides in beans control large seeded broadleaves and can be used pre or post but these also have restrictions depending on products. Pursuit, Classic, First rate are some of the products in this class.
With waterhemp and how agressive it is an early first pass or pre is just about necessary on the majority of acres in the US. Pre residual products are also much cheaper than labeled post emerge products in soybeans too! | |
