Fort Dodge, IA | As I indicated the other day, found Tar Spot on June 15th in NorthCentral Iowa in a field on the Calhoun/Webster county line. It's early with a long season ahead. However, Tar Spot likes cool, wet weather which is in the forecast the next 2 weeks. The lower leaves of corn plants could be the inoculum for future infection just like the southern rust epidemic in 2025. We don't know the future but by request from some on here, I have posted my thoughts in the video below:
