At first, it appeared to be an issue with Mailgun. Huge backlog. But have decided it began as a DNS problem. May need more tweaking.
The ultimate solution is a complete site overhaul. The biggest hitch is that the best software we can find to replicate AgTalk no longer supports threaded messages. I am told it's a generational thing...but I HATE a flat message format.
Here's a crazy thought:
Take this current site, put it on say "old.newagtalk.com" as view only.
Take a brand new server, put a fresh install of this exact same fourm software on it, transfer the user account info over, and run the new site as "talk.newagtalk.com"
Wouldn't that work, in a crude sort of way? Ideal no but wouldn't it work and put off the problem for another few decades?
Also, the younger generation definitely does not like flat forums as reddit proves that, as does Facebook as they phase in more and more threaded reply styles. |
Any update on the random slowness and errors?
