Lenawee Co Michigan | In 1980 a new church was built across the road from our drive-in theater. In October the drive-in marquee read "Debbie Does Dallas" and "Behind the Green Door" XXX for the weekend.
The church complained to the sheriff so he called in the new pastor and the drive-in owner and set them down together to air their differences. When done, he said the drive-in was there first and had the first amendment right to show what they wished, and that was that.
Incidentally, on opening night, Friday, the lot was sold out, about 500 cars. | |
