MN | We were able to get Euros from our bank in advance - they did charge a small handling fee, but worth it to have some $$ to get started. We used in Greece and Italy on 2 different trips. Italy needed cash for pay toilets.....Greece only encountered one of those. Did use debit card in Italy to get Euros and had a problem after we got home but we were able to get the $$ back. If you do use an ATM, make sure it's affiliated with one of the banking systems in the country you are in - not the random ATMs set up in touristy type places. Credit cards were pretty well accepted.
