Every once in a while I wonder if we had the internet when I was growing up in the 1960s. It would have been a totally different world.
I mean no card catalog, etc. I was in a debate during sophomore English class. The two of us were debating two other people about something sports. The other team said something about a college stadium in Michigan that held 148,000 people. We thought we had them. We said that could not be true. In the rebuttal the other team held up a 3x5 card stating it was true. We did not debate back. We believed the person. Now people would be on their cell phones checking the fact. Different world. |
