West Central Illinois		Presidential museum has great displays which will hold his interest.
New Salem village is great too. I’m guessing weekends there would have more docent/reenactors. If you are camping New Salem has a nice csmpground.
Lincoln home near the museum is a national monument. Not sure if they have a junior ranger program/badge.
