Doesn't that statement also cover biofuels? How sustainable long term is the production system for Ethanol and biodiesel?

Sigh.. I answered this above.. but again.

We farm a quarter which was in the Largest Oil Field in Kansas.. back in the day.. 1930s or thereabouts.. it drove employment and prosperity.. until it played out.. "Zenith (the town.. and the field) is basically a ghost town today.. despite estimates that only a fraction of the pool was recovered."

Whereas sequestering Carbon by growing crops.. with care.. increases carbon.. which increases organic matter.. which increases fertility.. which increases yields..

From now till infinity.. or the next ice age.

Again an acre of Iowa.. vs an Acre of Solar Panels.. eventually become a toxic waste cleanup site.. vs an acre of Permian.

And yes Permian today invested in Iowa tomorrow wins.. but.. which is truely sustainable?
