Concerns Regarding ASA Position

As a farmer who grows both soybeans and corn, I’m frustrated by ASA’s opposition to the current E15 legislation. Many of us pay soybean checkoff dollars expecting ASA to broadly support policies that strengthen overall U.S. agriculture and domestic grain demand.

Year-round E15 expansion supports rural economies, domestic fuel production, energy security, and grain demand at a time when margins are already under pressure. Most Midwest operations are diversified across both corn and soybeans, so seeing ASA appear to work against expanded ethanol access is disappointing.

I understand there are concerns surrounding RIN values and renewable diesel economics, but from a producer standpoint it feels like ASA is prioritizing narrow downstream policy interests over the broader interests of many farmers who fund the organization.

I would encourage ASA to reconsider its position and better reflect the reality that many soybean producers also directly benefit from stronger ethanol demand and a stronger overall agricultural economy.

Thank you.
