southern MN | E85 was too different, too soon, in this country. And if it had become wildly successful we didn’t have the capacity to provide it over night anyhow.
Ramping up E10 to E15 to E25 would be a good thing for consumers and producers and for the environment. It makes so much sense I guess that why almost no one is trying very hard. Too easy to bow to special interests?
Those few of you that haven’t had E10 around hear all those wild internet stories.
Feel bad for you.
Ain’t nothing in the world that is 100% perfect, but E10- E25 is a good thing, as much as it can be in an imperfect world. Lots more positives than negatives.
Similar to soybean oil in diesel, 5-20% has worked pretty good. Be mindful of temps, the 20% doesn’t work so well in winter here! Ha ha. Sure enjoy the lubricity it provides.
Both can clean out old tanks of accumulated gunk and clog things up, but that isn’t the fault of the ethanol or soy oil. It’s a good thing to have a clean fuel system, you just have to get the dirt cleaned out of your old tanks. Water in a fuel can be a little more of an issue with a 3 way blend now, but hey, why are you getting water in your fuel? Now that’s the problem - water,, not the ethanol or bean oil.
And so on.
Cheaper and better burning - good things.
