Wow.. so much disinformation on Social media.. Heres my quick reply.. feel free to copy and paste..
First as noted all gasoline has ethanol in it and has for over 2 decades.. Since MTBE became a liability in 2005.. a thimble of MTBE is enough to contaminate an Olympic sized swimming pool.. they were finding MTBE in drinking water supplies in California.. so the Industry subbed Cheaper, Cleaner Ethanol instead enhanced by the passage of the Clean Air Act.
If you dont want to buy E 15.. then pay more for other petroleum based octanes.. this legislation does not change that. You WILL BENEFIT even if you choose to stick with the higher cost petroleum carcinogenic octanes (other than your health) as MORE COMPETITION from higher octane premium ethanol reduces the spread for the non ethanol premiums. This legislation ALLOWS ethanol to NOT BE SHUT OUT of the marketplace by the BILLION $$$ small refineries.. vs the Million $$$ ethanol plants. Freedom of Choice is ALWAYS the right move for our country.. let the consumer decide!! As for me? I continue to run max ethanol blends in all my vehicles.
