Mid-Michigan | Lots of answers but "cold, hard data"? I don't think it exists. I know when I was in the process of buying my planter (jd 1760) I asked the salesman about precision. He said when can equip it any way I wanted as they were a precision dealer also. Would have been easy since they could order the planter without meter (none of this taking brand new meters off and throwing them in the corner). The salesman got their planter guy and he told me its really a matter of preference. He told me that he couldn't tell a bit of difference between the deere or the precision stuff. I stuck with jd. There sure are a ton of my neighbors who fell hook, line and sinker for all that stuff but my stock equipment does just fine. I do think hydraulic downforce has some merit, especially if you no til. | |
