Driftless SW Wisconsin | That's why I teach my grandkids to never touch a cow or bull no matter how tame they seem.
This time of year my Herefords are shedding their thick winter coats and will rub on anything. Just don't give them the idea they can rub on you or that you will scratch the itch.
Let them use trees or bale rings, etc.
ETA: if you want to pet something get a cat.
