If you want to salvage your calf crop for this year I’d do the following-

1. Get some high-quality feed on hand. It sounds like you might need help from a nutritionist or a good cattlemen. Either way that help is cheap compared to losing baby calves.

2. Get some high-quality mineral and start feeding it immediately.

3. Separate your pairs and your breds.

4. Start introducing the good feed to your breds right now.

5. Start slowly introducing better quality feed to your pairs.

6. Any calf that you determine is not going to be up in nursing within one hour- drench it with a high-quality colostrum immediately and give the calf a shot of multi mineral and a shot of vitamin A,D,E. If the calf still won’t get up drench it every 12 hours and keep it in a warm dry place.

7. Skip the excede. You’re likely destroying a lot of good bacteria. Save that for when you need it later.
