| the few hours it's had on the dynamometer then the drive home should have it well 'on it's way' through the critical part of seating-in. Should be ready for about anything up to deep lugging.. or extended constant high RPM. Don't short-cut the warm up/cool down period. Run it now like you plan on running it... maybe vary loads (shift up or down) and vary throttle settings to compensate for travel speed WITHOUT undo lugging for the next 50 hours or so. I'd avoid harsh downshifting just for the purpose of slowing down, as well as abrupt acceleration from idle up to wot.
I live in a hilly area, and hooked a 18,000# disk on the last overhauled tractor.. I went around the section 3-4 times in high gear, pulled the throttle back going downhill, rolled into the throttle going uphill. It'd hit max rpm just as I crested the hill. Went to the field with it next day and each round I varied the throttle like 100-150 rpm for a couple days.
Even after a couple thousand hours on the ticker, I vary the rpm day to day. |
