| So, if a data center was to get water in the states of Idaho or Utah the only way they would get water to buy an existing right. All surface flows are filed on, and most all basins are closed to drilling that I'm aware of. So, they would have to buy water right from owner of said right. Then that water would be transferred for season of use and flow with the state. It would be measured as well. However, the state of Idaho has allowed domestic house wells to be drilled, need to be permitted. But they are starting to crack down on them because they are taking water from agricultural users. But if a big subdivision or industrial use was needed, they would have to buy a right and convert to their use. So, the question I have is being in Midwest or back East are you allowed to just go drill and take water, or does the state track and permit it? | |
