I wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole. My parents and grandparents have it. A lot of my friends have it from a different city source.

They don’t read meters so 2 adults bill is for say 5k gallons.

Again they don’t read it so when theres a leak on the line past meter they may get a 2k bill. I think my parents have had as high as 3500.

Grandma just spent 8k to replace the section of line she ownes.

They go through appliances like crazy because sometimes the water is off or very low pressure.

Rural water is 2x city water per gallon.

Still goes off in power outage if your on main line pressure not a tower.

Always torn up.

It’s treated with chemicals.

If you can drill a well, buy a spare pump, have any fittings on hand you may need, a pressure switch too. I figure in 5 years I’ve been on well, it’s cost me 1/3 of folks like my parents on rural water, including drilling a new well. When it’s off I just fix it, no worries about someone else’s timeline. Besides that the people who lived in my house died of old age old, city water folks, no so much.
