Subject: Working Area

New to forum, scanned through the rules and it seems this is the appropriate area to post this.

We have traditionally run 150 to 200 sheep on our small farm in the southeast, but we are starting to have a lot of issues with parasites resistant to wormer. Due to that we’ve decided to get back into cows. We’ve always had a couple just feeder steers, but we’ve decided to branch out into a small cow calf operation with realistically no more than 30 head ever on property. We have approximately 20 acres of the fields currently and another 10 we are building now all the pastors are completely fenced in with brand new fence. I have heavy use pads, clean water, troughs, hay rings and pads throughout so the set up is pretty decent, but I don’t have a way to move them across the property since the Sheep we could just use a bucket and have them trail. I have a 150 foot gap that runs across my driveway. I want to put my squeeze shoot and tub in that area. I’d also like to try to get somewhat of a decent sick pen and a loading alley for my trailers. I plan on doing a good bit of this out of t post and my Sheep field fence I already use. It’s 6 1/2 foot t post every 6 foot but where I will have the cows confined tightly such as the alley leading up to the shoot or the tub the palp gate areas like that. I plan on using 6 x 6 post concreted with 2 x 6 boards across with Cattle panels on the back in case I ever need to move Sheep again I can still run them through the same process. I’d just changed the squeeze shoot to a tilt table. I’ve done a couple of basic layout with string and and sticks out there, but can’t come up with the system that actually seems to work. I got a picture of my general layout. The blue is the gates. The problem I’m running into is connecting three gates into a central working area or alley without taking up the entire area because I would like to eventually put a couple of more greenhouses out there as well. Any direction or advice would be appreciated.
