SW Ohio | I went. It was quite the memorable event among those of us involved and it can be a long story.
Late 70's ex-roommate and present roommates and more, all got together and decided to go to Florida for spring break. Ex's friends from another college rented a eight man RV. They insisted they would be the only drivers (two of them) for the 13 of us in the 8 man motor-coach. Typical college guys activities, lots of legal and illegal stimulants, hit the popular tourist spots, camped about a mile off the beach and slept on the roof, ground, anywhere. After a week-headed home, sunburnt and partied out. Before we left the state of Florida, adamant driver decided to side swipe a semi hauling hanging beef. Right front tire of semi chewed away the left rear of RV and we both ended up in the median at ten over the speed limit locked together like a newly wed couple. After four or five hours parked in the grass we proceeded to continue home. Somewhere around Tennessee and close to midnight, the adamant drivers wanted someone else to drive, and me being the only one with truck experience and a chauffeurs license, got elected, even though I had been up all day on a short night of sleep to begin with, and hungover. I hardly remember the driving part but made it back to Ohio after daybreak, safely. | |
