Spring break usually meant working here on the dairy farm. It was usually a good time to fix fence.

But one year (1991?), my college roommate invited me to go to New Orleans with him. He had a pretty junky car and I had just bought a decent one (Chevy Beretta GTU), so we drove mine (I think that is why he invited me). Drove 15 hours straight to get there.

He had a buddy he knew that lived there, so we crashed at his place for free. That was the first and last time I ever slept on a waterbed. His buddy had a super cool Camaro with a CD player (new technology) that would skip every time we hit a bump. Mardi Gra was over weeks before we got there, so the place was a ghost town. We drove around and looked at the tourist stuff. Took a boat ride up the Mississippi. My white farmer legs got burned bad on the boat ride. And I came down with mono. Great times :)
