The field cruse of what ever they called it was available at least back to the MX255 tier 2 magnums, series before the 245. It works ok under light load, set speed with throttle and if shifts to maintain optimum load. If you hit a hard spot its too slow to react under a heavy pull, after awhile you get an idea where it should run and just do it manually. I haven't used it on ours in years, biggest gripe is you should have been able to set a min speed on the throttle to make adjusting it easier of canceling it smoother. What even mph you set all the way forward was that speed, and idle throttle position was 0.
