north central Iowa, Hampton | with the rounded back rib, I'd call that a silage fork. At our place that was used to take a larger fork full of light material like silage.
If the back rib was straight across, and the tines were a little less curved, that was known as a 10 tine fork and used for moving something heavy like manure / bedding. The straight profile was also easier to push under a pack with your foot. |
