NE SD | Put in a ball valve in its place? Remove the handle or find one that requires an Allen wrench if you're worried about accidental opening.
On pretty much air tank we have (compressors, planters etc I have replaced them with ball valves because you always end up with a chunk of rust that keeps them from sealing up when closed eventually. I have not experienced your problem in cooling systems....yet. I've often worried on 20+ year old trucks. | |
