Eastern SD | Considering getting a truck and hog pot for hauling sheep. With 2 decks I would probably only gross around 60k at the most. However pots catch a lot of wind. Trying to get a feel how many ponies im going to need to not be disgusted with the thing. Smaller engine trucks with m11s or c12s seem to be quite a bit cheaper than n14s or 3406 etc. I used to pull an excavator on lowboy that grossed 105k with a 3406e set at 475hp or 221 lbs per horsepower. It did ok but had relatively little wind drag. If for example I had an m11 rated at 370hp pulling a pot grossing 60k that would be only 162lbs per horsepower but considerably more wind drag. So which is a bigger deal? Weight? Or drag? | |
