I have worked with the farmdoc data rather extensively.... and have not seen any data on regenerative ag as you describe it.
There is the precision conservation management program which has looked at the incorporation of some soil health principles.

However even PCM notes that it cannot demonstrate a clear profit advantage over conventional fields.



To your point on the Agronomy, yes there are basic agronomic tenents that underpin current production agriculture.
Time has passed, technology has grown.
we don't grow much open pollinated corn any more, most hybrid corns significantly out yield and are cost effective.
Chemical inputs have risen dramatically also. I remember hours upon hours of row crop cultivating as a kid as there were not many effective herbicides...
