What I have a difficult time with is the contrast between the crackdown on undocumented immigrants, many of which are not illegal as they are applying for legal status the "right" way in a broken system (so change the system?) and white collar crime in this country.
As of 2023, immigrants boosted economic activity in the U.S to the tune of $1.7 Trillion through spending while contributing $652 Billion in taxes which support schools, communities, etc. Another statistic is that immigrants are more likely to start businesses than native born.
Estimated white collar crime, i.e. money laundering, tax evasion, embezzlement, forgery, pyramid schemes, bribery, cybercrime, insider trading, costs anywhere from $300 to $800 Billion per year.
So, who do we focus on????
Of course, we put a convicted fraudster in the White House. Oh boy!
