| I think Severson`s take on the more consolidated farms is they can justify a full time agronomist that isn`t also the one who also sells you fertilizer. they can have a full time marketer on staff who has 100`s of thousand bushels of supply for the buyer, ECT. all this running up land rent just to "control the acres" and other emotions wouldn`t be in their algorithm on whether they should take on a new parcel of land or not.
in my Operation, i`m the one making marketing decisions, agronomy decisions and also wrenching on my skid loader... the term "Jack of all trades, master of none" comes to mind. :-) but in my defense, I don`t have the volume of production to "do things right". | |
