The gentleman in the article was farming during a time when land could be purchased at a reasonable price and paid for with farm income. I am sure some on here purchased land and put together a good farming operation during that time without significant help from inheritance or an existing operation.

I might have overlooked it but did he buy more land during this time or just farm the family farm?




Know a guy that didn't farm and didn't own any ground. He was a carpenter and had saved enough money for a down payment. Bought his first farm around 1992. Rented the ground out for several years, until he went to farming it himself. He now owns 2000 plus acres that is debt free. Think currently he is around 65 years old, so he would have been in his younger 30s when he started buying farm land.
