I believe I have the right term for the 86-95% band of coverage that is now another insurance product heavily subsidized from the government? Doesn’t it just make everybody even more brave, drive up rents, raise input costs? Aren’t we just chasing our tail? Anytime you insure almost 100% doesn’t it start to skew things even more? At end of day it seems like it guarantees x amount of crop but also guarantees that everybody just exsists? Don’t more acres get planted in fringe areas which makes crop price even less? Yes I will take it along with everybody else once I figure out the many different variations of the product as it seems every insurance company slightly different. I am not protesting but at end of day are really better off?


Agreed.

The higher subsidy actually reduces the chances of making a profit exactly for the reasons you stated.
