Hey Guys, I am thinking about trying a different brand of Combine, probably either a 1680 Case International Combine or a R-62 or a R-72 Gleaner Combine. Just looking for one that is the right deal like something somebody has let sit around for a couple of years that needs a engine overhaul or some other kind of work that would make it a little cheaper. We currently have two John Deere 9600s a 8820 and a 7720. I have read a lot about The Gleaners and really like how clean a sample it puts in the grain bin. The question I have is how hard is it to work on one of these combines like belts, bearings and Chains as compared to a John Deere? Seems like the Gleaners have about as Many Belts as a John Deere. I also like the Simplicity of a 1680 Case International Combine.
Thank you,

Gleaner Rotary combines from 1992 and up, and the IH combines like you are asking about are probably the 2 easiest to work on machines out there, with the older MF Rotary combines being right there close. The IH and MF combines EVEYTHING important is above your head though, where the Gleaner is spread out evenly across the whole combine LOL

I'm partial to the Gleaner for the reliability, sample, loss levels, and overall cost of ownership...no Deere can come close on the cost of ownership side, and no CIH other than a legacy rotary can either, but those old ones have enough aftermarket support they might get within 1/3rd of the cost to keep running.

Location, and crop mix might help make a better recommendation on what Gleaner would be the best fit, and a budget. Spend more on headers compared to the combine for maximum performance and owner satisfaction!!!!
