QLF Boost is primarily molasses with urea , Sulphur & a few other additives. We sent feed grade molasses and Boost to MidWest Labs for analysis. No big secrets; the feed grade molasses we tested had a higher % carbon than Boost. The feed grade molasses also had a higher % sugar than Boost. The N and S from commercial sources will likely be less $$than what's included in Boost.
When using a carbon source with sugar, together with nitrogen.... be careful. Over application can cause problems. I am not against using Boost. Do your own testing. We sent numerous similar products to MidWest. The analysis reports were quite insightful. FYI; MidWest was testing "blind"; the samples were coded so only we knew which was which). The tests were a good investment.
We've used feed molasses for several years as a N stabilizer. Not all feed suppliers products are similar analysis. . The viscosity can vary a bit also.
In our context, the feed grade molasses has a higher carbon/sugar % than Boost, If used as a N stabilizer, the feed molasses costs less and requires less product to equal Boost.
However, Boost is a clean, easy flowing product.
