In very hot and dry falls its almost impossible to harvest corn at an ideal moisture... ie 20% + University studies indicate corn start to cannibalize after it drops below 28%. At what rate I don't remember, but it happens. I do not harvest at 28%, I'd like to start at 25% but you never know. Planting Hybrids maturity's that are farther spread out does help. At your Age I would build Something to start with. No one can afford to build from scratch what their combine can harvest per hr. You need 12-18+ hrs. of wet corn holding capacity If drying corn. Dumping Hot corn will increase your dryers capacity. And allow you to remove 2-3pt. in bin. Also if you don't need the corn at or below 15. you can increase capacity. A dry leg at your dryers max capacity would cost much less. or Go with Air system as I did. Design your system to be able to expand bins and into a future leg if you desire. An auger to a wet bin will be MUCH Cheaper than the 16x125. I run a 13x70. on a drive over concrete pad..
Good Luck, PLAN, PLAN, PLAN..
