The joint on the SRB was leaking thrust out of it which was directed at the external tank and the support that held the SRB to the external tank, this is clearly seen seconds after launch. Eventually that thrust punctured the external tank which caused the internal structure of the tank to collapse which pushed the orbiter itself off course causing the structural failure of the orbiter itself due to aerodynamic forces. | |
