West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | According to Statista...about 135 million people were working fulltime jobs and about 30 million people were working parttime jobs in 2025.
Quite a few of the vehicles you observed in the parking lots of those large retailers are employees of those large retailers vehicles. And the same can be said about some of the vehicles you encountered on the road.
One thing I have observed hauling grain to MN river terminals located in the "cities" over the past four decades is how the timing and frequency of "rush hour" traffic patterns have changed over the years...especially after covid.
ETA...I'm not sure how Statista counts a life long self employed/semi-retired/dirt, hog farmer/trucker/custom harvester/small business owner like me...probably unemployable.
