If the government takes from those who earned something to give to those who did not, that is the basis of socialism. It doesn’t matter how many flowery words you attach to it, it doesn’t change what it is and there is nothing good about it.
I’ll ask you again, what do you call the handouts of taxpayer’s money?
What do you call it when you pay more income tax that what you get in handouts?
Taxes. Please don’t misunderstand me, I’m not saying it’s wrong to pay taxes, in fact we are supposed to. I think we’d all agree there are legitimate things the government does that we should expect to pay for. This would be a small portion of the government. I think we would also all agree there are many things that the government does that are not legitimate that we shouldn’t have to pay for. Many of them we as individuals can’t do anything about. But when it comes to taking welfare it’s very easy to simply not take the money. Mind you I didn’t say it is easy to live with the consequences, but doing the right thing is rarely easy.
