EV's are a niche product if they work for you great. They are not nor will ever be ready for mass market applications.
A real breakthrough would not require one cent of government subsidy Tesla is only profitable by selling off the Tax credits that the government makes up out of thin air to other companies that have to buy them so they can sell products that actual consumers want to buy to satisfy some artificial government rule.
